It's always an adventure making carved and textured pottery. The clay is quite fragile prior to firing which makes carving a real challenge. Breakage is quite common and is why you don't find many potters that actually carve up their wares. It can be very frustrating to put hours in on a piece only to have it break in the final stages of creation. Though an ever-present threat, this is what makes a finished piece so uniquely special.
Our mountains are full of beauty and wonder. In an attempt to share this with those not familiar with Eastern Kentucky, you will notice that the items below have been adorned with nature themes reflecting the regional flora and fauna.
