I am very excited to bring you my new line of Agateware & Marbleized pottery. Made of stained and/or combinations of clays, this particular form of pottery is practiced by few potters. Largely this is due to the amount of time it takes to create the piece and degree of difficulty surrounding this technique.
Agateware, in particular, is a very slow and meticulous process as each step requires skill and a great deal of patience. The failure rate in creating it is considerable due to the unpredictability of the various clays as they dry, and then again during firing. There is a strong tendency for items to warp and crack. For all of these reasons, plus the expense of stains, you will notice that my Agateware pieces cost a bit more than my standard ware though the beauty of the marbleized clay is well worth it.
All items on this page are made with non-toxic, dinnerware-safe glazes.
